Phatta’s Memorial is dedicated to a 16-year old brave child named Phatta, who laid his life while battling with the enemy to defend the Chittorgarh Fort. It is located inside the Ram Pol, close to the assembly hall. The Ram Pol is the main entrance of the Chittorgarh Fort. It symbolises the Hindu culture and stands as the epitome of Rajputana valour. A temple dedicated to the Hindu deity Lord Rama is situated nearby.
Phattas Memorial is situated in the Chittorgarh Fort. This is the seventh gate and the main entrance to the fort. Also known as Ram Pol, Lord Rama's Gate, this is a beautiful gate showcasing typical Rajput architecte.
This gate was built in the memory of Phatta, a young soldier, who died at the age of 16 in a battle against the invaders defending the fort of Chittorgarh. Newly married and still grieving from his father's death this young soldier sacrificed his life for his clan. The Rajputs are known for their valor and determination and this memorial is an example for that.
The other major gates in the Chittorgarh Fort are Padam Pol, Bhairon Pol and Hanuman Pol. Tulja Bhawani Temple is also situated near the entrance of Ram Pol.
This is one of the 7 gates of Chittaurgarh Fort which is named after the brave Phatta, who single handedly led the fight against the Mughal invaders and laid his life to protect his people.
One can also visit the other monuments inside the Chittorgarh Fort complex like Kirti Stambh and Vijaya Stambh while visiting Phattas Memorial.
