Nestled beautifully amongst the Aravallis, Nathdwara, a picturesque city in the state of Rajasthan and is situated on the banks of the River Banas. It is located in close proximity with Udaipur, just 48 Kms from the city. The name “Nathdwara” can be attributed to the “entrance of the Lord”. Nathdwara is well known for its Temple of Krishna, Eklingji Temple and also has many other marvelous places of sightseeing. Shrinath Ji Temple

Shrinath Ji temple is situated at Nathdwara, which is around 50 kilometers from Udaipur city and it is also termed as the gateway to lord Shrinath Ji. The temple was built in 17th century and owes a great story behind it. It is said that an idol of Lord Krishna was transferred to a distant and safer place from Vrindavan. There were chances of its destruction of the idol by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. When the idol reached this placed the bull cart stuck in deep mud and could not moved further. The priest accompanying the idol thought it as the right place and therefore Shrinath Ji temple was built in Nathdwara. Shreenathji Gaushala

Shreenathji's most favorite place – His Personal gaushala is situated about 3 km from His Haveli. Surrounded by hills it is a very picturesque place; with a lot of open grounds. It was planned and built with the Haveli. It houses about 2000 cows with a staff of 50 guwals to take care of them.

Any visit to ShreeNathji is incomplete without a visit here. It is as important as the Mandir. Shreeji likes staying here – in the midst of His beloved ‘Gaumata’-as He calls them.

Giriraj Parikrama at Nathdwara

Govardhan is a hill located near the town of Vrindavan, is considered as sacred by a number of traditions within Hinduism. Known as Govardhan or Giriraj it is the sacred center of Braj and is identified as a natural form of Krishna. On the similar tradition there is a Giriraj Hill located near the city of Nathdwara also. Haldighati

Haldighati is an important historical site in the context of Rajasthan, India. Actually, Haldighati is a mountain pass in the Aravalli range connecting districts of Rajsamand and Pali in Rajasthan. The place is at a comfortable distance of 40 kms from the city of Udaipur. The term Haldighati has been derived from the yellow colored soil of the place that gives a sense of turmeric (in Hindi, turmeric is called as 'Haldi' and valley is known as' Ghati').

If you are interested in historic battles and heroic deeds of the courageous soldiers, then Haldighati is the perfect place to visit. Haldighati is a significant historical site that has observed the battle of 1576. The battle of Haldighati was a huge combat between Rana Pratap Singh of Mewar and Raja Man Singh of Amber. This ferocious battle created amount of blood shed of the heroic soldiers and the red turned color of sand still speaks of those daring people.

Haldighati extends as a thrilling tourist attraction that flares the merciless battlefield. A single thought of those courageous soldiers standing on the exact lands where they fought, send chills down one's spine. Haldi Ghati captures major attention because the terra firma made the battlefield to the legend, Maharana Rana Pratap and his loyal horse, Chetak. The place gives a nostalgic feeling as this was the same place where Chetak, the heroic mount of Rana Pratap, breathed his last after leaving his master to a safe place.

At a distance of around 4 kms from the battlefield, a cenotaph (chattri) is built in pure white marble. This cenotaph is dedicated to the gallant horse Chetak as a sign of respect and admiration. The bloody battle of Haldighati has been captured an inescapable place in the History of India. The battle has been known since ages in murals and ballads. In the words of Col. James Todd (a British author), Haldighati has been referred as 'Thermopile of Mewar'.

Close to this place, you can visit Balicha village that is famous for its terracotta crafts. Badshahi Bagh is another place which is renowned for 'Chaitri-Gulab'. Here you can find original rose water and 'Gulkand' (Jam made from Rose petals) that has immense medicinal value and really tastes good. Thus, Haldighati is a place of interest for the people who value history and respect the heroes of India for their priceless efforts.

Rakth Talai

THE RAKTH TALAI was the battle field of Maharana Pratap. Haldi Ghat is a bad memorial place in the Indian history. Still the soil in Rakth Talai is like Haldi (yellow colour) even after 400 years of the war, that is the reason behind the naming this place as HALDI GHAT.

This yellow valley now developed by the Rajasthan Tourism and a museum also built to express the importance of that place. The museum has various collections of that war which represents those bad memories and great ruin of soldiers. A beautiful art work made to show the demo which took place during the war in museum.

Today Haldi Ghat is a famous attraction for tourists. Rakth Talai explores the greatness of Maharana Pratap and his soldiers, who escort their Rana with their lives.

Rakth Talai is also notable for “Chetak” (The horse of Maharana Pratap). The Chetak was a true beau of Maharana Pratap. An occurrence is reminded always regarding chetak’s sacrifice for his master. The Chetak had leave the war ground, and jumped over a 30 feet long naala with the wounded Maharana Pratap on his back without taking care of his life. The Chetak died after jumping that naala. A big statue has been built to remind the sacrifice of the Chetak.

Another great attraction in Haldi Ghat or Rakth Talai is the “Rose Farming”. Haldi Ghat’s soil is appropriate for Rose Framing. Chaitri Rose is the main attraction of Rakth Talai. This Rose is framed in the Chaitra Masam (month of March in English calendar) that’s the main reason it is called as Chaitri Rose.

Rajsamand Lake

It is an artificial lake built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1660 in order to provide living to the drought stricken victims of Nathdwara. Fed by Gomti and Benas Rivers, Rajsamand is one of the biggest artificial lakes in Rajasthan. The embankments of the lake are adorned with many ornamental arches and beautifully carved chhatris (cenotaphs), erected in the memory of the rulers of Nathdwara. Nav Chowki situated along the banks of Rajsamand Lake, Nav Chowki is a pillared structure, tiled with marble. The Chowki is titivated with many intricately carved chhatris and ornamental arches that give it a very elegant look.

Sunset is the most beautiful attraction of Rajsamand Lake. At the time of sunset, water of Rajsamand Lake will appear in the orange colour. Walking on the side of Rajsamand Lake would take away all tensions and stress. Sure everyone knows it went down to the Rajsamand Lake. In the 17th century a magnificent dam also built on Rajsamand Lake. Rajsamand Lake is 6km long and 2.5km wide and with 18 meters depth.

Nav Chowki

The Nav Chowki (Nine pavilions) situated on the bank of Rajsamudra Lake. This nine pillar marbles are shaped by a number of complicated curves, which gives a beautiful look to the Lake. These Nine pavilions built by Maharana Raj Singh on the banks of the lake.

The beautifully carved pavilions are decorated with images of the Sun god, chariots, birds and extraordinary carvings. There are 27 marble tiles describing the history of Mewar in 1017 stanzas that are called as “Raj Prashasthi”. It is also one of the longest engravings remarkable in India.

There are five ‘Thoranas’ can also be found on the south side of the lake, where kings organized the eve (Thuladaan). Thuladaan is an event organized by kings to weigh them with gold and distribute amongst the Brahmins.

Kumbhalgarh Fort

Rana Kumbha of Mewar built this great defensive fortress on a 3,500 feet (1,100 meters) high hill overlooking the approaches from Ajmer and Marwar. Today, precisely because it is within easy reach of Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, and Pushkar-yet off the well trodden tourist routes-Kumbhalgarh is an attractive destination. The imaginatively designed Aohdi nearby belongs to a descendant of one of those great warrior families, the Rathores of Ghanerao, who enjoyed the distinction of having the only hereditary seat among the premier nobles of both Mewar and Marwar. The Aohdi's castle-type cottages provide comfort and privacy for those seeking a peaceful retreat, plus a base for horse safari and trekking enthusiasts.
